Shaping Your Working Day Around When You are Most Productive

Do you get to Monday morning and think sh*t I’ve got a million things to do, on top of feeling worn out from the weekend (but hey it’s the weekend after all and we’re allowed to let our hair down right?), where do I even start?

I used to feel this way!

I had a never-ending list of things to do, mostly in my head, which added to the feeling of feeling overwhelmed. I would put pressure on myself to get through all of my to-do list and if I didn’t I would feel like I wasn’t ‘productive’ and so I either kept going or what tended to happen was I would feel burned out.

Nowadays I’m much more intentional about how I prioritise my time and focus on the things that will either move the needle, add value to my life, or energise me.

I love to start my week by setting clear intentions about what I want to achieve and what ‘success’ would be for me at the end of the week.

I also now know when I’m most productive and therefore centre my days around that.

🖌Mornings are best for me to get critical and enjoyable activities done. Afternoons are great for meetings and catching up with people either F2F or online. Evenings are best for getting centred, relaxing and taking time out to spend with people I enjoy being around.

📁I also like to organise my weeks according to certain types of activities; creativity, strategy, 1:1 client meetings, podcasting, learning & development and spare time.

🗓 Mondays are my creative days. I LOVE the fact that I get to wake up do my exercise and then roll straight into my creative bubble writing content and thinking about my strategy for the week.

🗓 Tuesday-Thursdays I have a mixture of time set aside for 1:1 clients, strategy planning, catch up with my Marketing Manager and VA, and then Fridays are for podcast recording/editing, learning and watching videos from either my coaching mastermind or other courses I’m doing. And for some play or unexpected things.

My takeaway?

✔️Set aside time for regular intentions - I like to set weekly intentions on a Sunday evening but also do yearly, bi-annual and monthly ones.

✔️Ask yourself when are you most productive? Are you a morning, afternoon or evening person? Plan your most critical tasks at that time and block it in your calendar.

✔️Plan your week according to different types of activities that are critical to your business and/or life. Add them to your calendar too!
